Got Something Different to Say?

Become a Guest on Creatively Eccentric

We're interested in what's going on inside your creative mind.

Creatively Eccentric explores the unusual ways creative people think, create, experiment and challenge the norm.

We're not looking for another conversation about someone's job title, business achievements or latest launch.

We're interested in the ideas, processes, experiments, decisions and unexpected approaches behind the work.

Not another business interview. Not another sales pitch. A proper conversation about thinking differently.

BOLD IDEAS. UNCONVENTIONAL CREATIVITY. ZERO APOLOGIES.

The thinking behind the work

We're looking for the thinking behind the work.

Your job title tells us what you do. Your portfolio shows us what you've made. But neither necessarily tells us what makes you interesting.

We want to get curious about the things that make your creative approach distinctly yours.

Maybe you see things differently. Perhaps you've developed an unusual way of working, challenged an industry convention or stumbled across an idea that completely changed your perspective.

Maybe you're experimenting with something that hasn't quite come together yet.

That's the stuff we're interested in.

What gets us curious

Five ways into an interesting conversation.

01 / THE CREATIVE MIND

The creative mind

What makes you curious? What are you questioning, noticing or thinking about?

02 / THE PROCESS

The process behind the work

Your methods, experiments, habits, systems and creative decisions.

03 / THE UNFINISHED

The unfinished and unexpected

Creative rabbit holes, abandoned ideas, experiments and things you're still figuring out.

04 / THE UNCONVENTIONAL

The unconventional approach

Alternative methods, unpopular opinions and the rules you've decided to ignore.

05 / THE IDEAS

The ideas worth exploring

Unexpected influences, fascinating connections and fresh ways of looking at familiar things.

A quick reality check

What we're NOT looking for

Let's get this out of the way.

Creatively Eccentric probably isn't the right podcast if you're:

  • Looking primarily for free publicity, backlinks or a platform to promote your business.
  • Wanting to deliver a sales pitch for your book, course, product or service.
  • Pitching your career biography without a clear conversation idea.
  • Offering a vague topic that could apply to almost anyone.
  • Expecting guaranteed exposure, downloads, clients or promotional results.
  • Unwilling to explore your creative thinking, methods, decisions or opinions.
  • Approaching the podcast without taking time to understand what we actually talk about.

Having a business, product, book or service is absolutely fine. These can make excellent conversation starters.

But the business isn't the episode. The thinking behind it is.

What makes an interesting conversation?

We want to explore ideas rather than simply hear a list of achievements. Here's a little inspiration to get you thinking.

Instead of telling us... We'd rather explore...
How I became an illustrator Why I deliberately leave room for creative experimentation.
How I built my business Why I've chosen an unconventional approach to growing my business.
My career journey How stepping outside the traditional career path changed the way I work.
What my design studio does The thinking and decisions behind the way I approach design problems.
How I overcame a challenge What that experience changed about my creative practice.

You can suggest up to three conversation ideas when you apply.

For each idea, tell us:

01 / The idea

What would we actually talk about?

02 / Your perspective

What makes your approach or experience different?

03 / The takeaway

What might listeners learn, question or see differently?

We want to understand why this conversation needs to happen.

Before you pitch

Before you pitch, do a little homework.

We appreciate people who take the time to understand the podcast they're approaching.

  • Listen to at least two Creatively Eccentric episodes.
  • Ideally include a recent episode to understand our current direction.
  • Read the episode descriptions and show notes.
  • Get a feel for our conversational style and audience.
  • Think about what you could bring that adds something new.

If you're referencing a particular episode, please make sure you've actually listened to it.

A thoughtful, genuine pitch will always mean more than generic compliments or an AI-generated message that could have been sent to any podcast.

Good to know

A few things to know before applying

Do I need previous podcast experience?

No. Previous experience is helpful, but it's not essential. We're interested in people who can communicate their ideas, contribute to a conversation and feel comfortable exploring a topic in depth.

Do I need to own a business?

Absolutely not. You could be employed, freelance, self-employed, working across disciplines or developing your own creative practice.

Do I need to have achieved something significant?

No. We're interested in original thinking and creative approaches, not just professional milestones.

How long are the conversations?

We typically allow around 30–60 minutes for a recorded conversation.

Is there a fee to appear?

No. Creatively Eccentric is an independently produced editorial podcast. Guest appearances are not paid, and we don't charge guests to participate.

Will appearing on the podcast promote my business?

We'll share and promote published episodes through our podcast channels, but we don't guarantee specific reach, engagement, leads or business outcomes.

Does joining the waiting list guarantee an invitation?

No. Every potential guest is considered against the podcast's editorial direction, the proposed conversation and available recording opportunities.

Your turn

So, what's sitting in your creative drawer?

Perhaps it's an idea you've been sitting on.

A strange experiment. An unconventional approach. A way of working that other people don't quite understand. Or a question you've been wanting someone to ask you.

You don't have to fit the mould. You don't have to have everything figured out.

You just need to bring your ideas, your curiosity and your wonderfully eccentric way of seeing the world.

Think we'd have an interesting conversation?

We'd love to hear what you're working on, what you're thinking about and what makes your approach different.

Put yourself on our radar.
